February 10, 2012 -- The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved the construction of the first new nuclear plant in more than 30 years. Two AP1000 reactors will be built at Plant Vogtle near Augusta, Georgia. Graphic shows locations and features of AP1000 plant.
