April 15, 2012 -- One hundred years ago, the RMS Titanic, the largest passenger liner afloat, sank after striking an iceberg on her maiden voyage from Southampton to New York City. Nearly 1,500 people lost their lives in one of the deadliest peacetime maritime disasters in history.
