TP-LINK shows dual-band router

Home router vendor concentrates on new Archer 7 802.11ac wireless dual-band gigabit router

Home router vendor TP-LINK is introducing GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK delegates to its new Archer 7 802.11ac wireless dual-band gigabit router, which is designed for a range of uses in consumer network environments. The router supports simultaneous wireless speeds of up to 1300Mbps at 5GHz and 450Mbps at 2.4GHz. The device is intended to support day-to-day applications such as e-mail and Web browsing on the 2.4GHz band, while the 5GHz band is used for bandwidth-intensive or latency-sensitive applications, such as multiple HD video streams or several online gaming sessions.

Shenzhen, China-based TP-LINK began operations in 1996, rising to become a major brand in its domestic market by 2003. In 2005 the company began expansion into overseas markets and started participating in trade shows in the US, Taiwan and Germany. The company attended GITEX for the first time in 2007. "TP-LINK holds 42% of the worldwide consumer [router] market,"  says Jason Xu, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa, TP-LINK.

"GITEX has helped TP-LINK a lot in our development of the Middle East and Africa market and after the first year here we realised we had to be well prepared [for the event]," Xu adds. "It has brought us a lot of valuable customers and partners."
