eHosting DataFort (eHDF)is highlighting its transition from managed services to the cloud at this years' GITEX Technology Week. Chief Executive Yasser Zeineldin says that the company has been working on the evolution of its service offerings for the last 18 months. Its work over the last 12 months is the focus of its appearance at GITEX this year: Think Managed Services.
"A lot of people have been contemplating moving into the cloud, but there are a number of issues in the region for companies wishing to make the move," he says. "They want the benefits that the private cloud brings, but they don't know where to start. That's where managed private clouds come in. However, the biggest issue is that there is no mature offering in this region."
"That will change when we launch our managed private cloud offering before the end of this year. We have been working for the last 18 months, leveraging our in house expertise to test the options on the market. We have tested a number of the market's leading products. A lot of effort has gone into this to make sure that it brings enterprises the benefits of the cloud, such as security, while dealing with the issue of latency."
He says that security is the biggest challenge facing adoption of cloud services in the region, something he says eHDF is addressing. "Knowing that your data resides in the Middle East is a crucial aspect of our service. We need to offer a similar level of service to the big companies, but at the same time, offer the benefits that come with being in the same region as our customers.
