May 5, 2017 -- China’s first domestically-produced large passenger plane, designed to rival its western counterparts Boeing 737 and Airbus A320, makes its maiden flight. The C919 is built by state-owned COMAC, with many of the most important parts sourced from European and U.S. companies.
