Cisco, under the theme 'The Internet of Everything' (IoE), is poised to unveil a host of Smart City technology solutions at this year's GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK. The technologies on show would align with the Dubai Smart City goals, Cisco said ahead of the exhibition. The vendor said it would be showcasing solutions designed for Smart and Connected Communities, Smart Government, and Smart Tourism and Hospitality.
Critical to many of these conversations around smart solutions will be how to protect the IoE from cyber-attacks, Cisco said. As such, the vendor's stand at GITEX will feature a designated area for its strategic partners. "Our return to GITEX, coupled with our focus around smart and connected communities, not only demonstrates Cisco's commitment to the Smart Dubai vision, but also to the UAE and the Middle East region as a whole," said Rabih Dabboussi, General Manager, Cisco UAE.
Globally, Smart Cities are being fuelled by the IoE, which can potentially lower costs, improve productivity, increase revenue, and improve citizen benefits for the UAE's public and private sectors, Cisco said. The vendor predicts that the IoE will create $19 trillion in value globally, and of that amount, $4.6 trillion will be in the public sector.
Cities alone can achieve $1.9 trillion in value through initiatives such as smart buildings, smart gas and water monitoring, smart parking, and smart waste management,
